Scottish Nites - 11/01/03

The Florida Room!

Believe it or not, this room was completed only 20 minutes before the dinner. We immediately went there to enjoy our Kir Royales and appetizers. We did have to ask if we could turn some lights on.

Florida Room with lights on!

Sue turned the lights on, and now we can see who we're talking with. We can also see the appetizers. We can't see Mike who is upset that we are using electricity.

Improv Appetizers!

While a violation of the rules, Sherry & Dan added these lovely salmon, cheese and capers spread on small toast points as an addition. The required scottish cheeses were also delivered. This is know as an exception to the rules.

A clear rules violation!

Karen & Joe, entered in the desert area, decided that these Scottish Eggs, (Hard boiled eggs, wrapped in seasoned sausage, then deep fried), served with multiple sauces was necessary. They were forgiven with penalties. Delicious by the way.

Enough about rules!

Beth and Craig, raising a college sophmore, a high school sophmore, and a 4 year old adult, say there are enough rules in their lives. Kick back and enjoy. They're right, and we did.

Cocky Leeky Soup

Following the delicious Oatmeal Bannocks was an outstanding soup. Cocky Leeky quite simply is chicken and leeks. Dan was ready at the main table, but.....

TJ's dilemma!

TJ's Oatmeal Bannocks with Blue Cheese, et. al. were not compatible with her tastes. For everyone else they were delicious. Russian judge awards a 10. She looks skeptically at Cocky Leeky soup.

Is this the children's table?

Meanwhile, in another room, far removed from the hosts, were seated various undesireables. C'mon now, you all remember how you had to sit at the children's table before graduating to the main room.

Third Adjournment

As you know by now, we always break between courses. The men are enjoying a respite, and a drink. Brian and Mike are enjoying a cigar, and the ladies. We have only a few fools!

Our entree work station!

All things start somewhere. Where the heck is Mike! We send Karen to look for him, after all she did find Joe.

The real entree!

Karen did find Mike. He was completing the Balmoral Salmon on the grill. Then he rushed in to finish the Collops of Beef. You will also note Beth & Craig's Stovies at 4--6 o'clock on the plate. Believe me this was an awesome entree.

Charlie was still hngry!

He thought the centerpiece was stuffed purple cabbage. We stopped him from eating it and directed him back for seconds.

The heck with the guys!

Joe realizes what he missed at the last break, and cavorts with Karen, Ruth and Sandy. I'm non-plussed with Karen as she has responsibility for desserts. Come to think of it, so does Ruth!

Mmmmm, just desserts!

The Drambuie Oranges were to die for, but we really shouldn't have mixed our drinks. As for Queen Mary's Tart, she wasn't properly dressed to photograph.

Hostess looking for help with the dishes!

At this stage, Sue had not broached the question. This is why Sherry & Joe are still smiling.

Brian gets to the main dining room.

As the meal is done, people scatter all over the house for after dinner drinking. This is something we do well. Brian took the opportunity to get into the main room, and Sherry said, "Let someone else do the dishes."

Congratulations!

Another very successful dinner under our belts. Sandy, our founder, and Sue, our hostess share our thanks as the evening draws to a close.
