Welcommen! |
No, we don't eat dessert first, we always start with a Kir Royale! But Sandy and Charlie's German Bee Sting cake looks like a winner for later. And it was!
The "Copa" |
Before getting to the seriousness of a dining table, we adjourn to the cabana for wine, whiskey and beer. And a smoke too. Joe, Karen and Ruthie sit back.
And of Course, appetizers. |
In this case, the centerpiece was Konigsburg meatballs, mit German cheeses which were wunderbar! Sherry and Dan the chefs for this fine opener.
Still at the Copa |
Sherry and Mike relaxing before we move to the table.
And... in the kitchen |
Brian and Sandy hold court in our favorite gathering place.
While Craig and Beth |
Just hold each other. |
A formal vote |
Charlie, Joe and Dan debate whether Mike should be in the club. Clearly Sue is in, but we do have standards.
The table is set! |
Ruth and Brian had no idea they could seat 14 for dinner. Thank heaven for the sun porch. Now we know why Ruth had the dining room wall torn down.
The first course |
Sue and Mike Gilbert delivered in their first at bat. This very traditional Cucumber and Onion salad was a big hit. Of course some folks have trouble with cukes, but we want to be adventuresome.
At the table... |
The votes are in! You can see Mike Gilbert 4th on the right. Unlike blackjack, we don't split pairs.
Course two... |
TJ and Bill's Mushroom and Potato soup was to die for. Along with the Pumpernickel and Rye breads Sue and Mike provided, this could easily be a meal by itself. Uber the top!
The Copa again! |
We love these breaks between courses. Dan, Charlie, Joe, Bill and Sandy pose as if they were having fun. They really are!

Ruth & Brian's guest |
With Sandy gone from the kitchen, Molly becomes the watch dog. She objects to the term, and is declared a guest.
Some of the Gourmet club's best! |
Sue, Sandy and Beth look on as the men are in a deep and profound discussion.
Karen says.... |
What are they discussing? Golf or football?
Ein, swei, drei, feir... Let's drink! |
While Ruth and TJ say who cares what they're discussing.
Sherry is pleased, as the men's discussion ends. |
The men share with all, that they have unanimously declared they have all overmarried. What lucky guys! With that behind them, we can move to the main event.
Plating the main course. |
Craig, Charlie and Brian begin this important chore. Craig... we're supposed to be plating not eating.
The main event... |
Ruth and Brian's sauerbraten with a gingersnap gravy; Karen and Joe's spaetzel, light, delicate and yummy; and Beth and Craig's red cabbage mit apples. Mmmmmmm good.
A surprise guest... |
Sherry and Dan's good friend Patrick flew from Boston having heard of our culinary reputations. Molly argues that she's the only guest, and that's her plate.
Enjoying the jacuzzi.... |
The ladies are kicking back enjoying the warm jacuzzi, as Craig declares, "This beer goes right through me".
And now the end is near.... (F. Sinatra) |
Patrick does it his way, kissing Brian good night. Those Red Sox fans are strange.
Guten Nacht! |
Ruth and Brian thank you all for coming, and, in an inappropriate non-theme manner say, "Y'all come back, Y'here.". "Prosit."
