Black and White 9/25/04

The Table Setting

Black and White is the theme, and the table is set to match.

The Beginning

Guests arrive promptly as usual. Charlie and Sandy always try to be among the first.

More Guests

Who is the fool imitating 1/2 of Al Jolson? Well the party did say black and white.

Waiting for Mike

Mike had to rush off for some digital meeting. (Another job?) We enjoyed Sherry's Mediterranean Pastry Triangles.

More Appetizers

Matt & Joe's (?) Skewered Sesame Shrimp and Scallops. Do you see scallops? Joe loves scallops. But we did enhjoy the shrimp.

Mike Arrives

A unique greeting for his guests. "Thanks for eating all the appetizers," he says, fingering us all for our gluttony.

The Traditional Toast

The toast continues to be a tradition. The Kir Royale is no longer the standard. Brian is happy because that leaves a lot of champagne for him.

A Safety Lecture

Mike calls the group together for a brief talk on safe use of a mandoline. The audience wonders who he is pointing to.

The Post Lecture Workshop

Afterwards, Ruth asks TJ, "Are we having finger food or potato chips?"

Dan comments...

"I love potato chips, but please, no cucumbers..."

The First Seated Course

We sit at an imaginative "L" shaped dining arrangement. The table festive in black and white. The soup course, our first delight.

Hot Soup Again

The summer is over, and the soup is hot again. Sandy & Charlie's Creamy Potato Basil soup, mmm, mmm good. In fact better than Campbell's.

Preparing for the Main Event

Here Sandy explains to Deborah how all pitch in for the main course. Brian & TJ have been vigilantly making potato chips out of the picture. Mike gallantly grills outside.

A Presentation

Ruth presents a "Friends" plate to the Club. A new tradition is beginning. All present sign the back of the plate. The hosting party will use it to serve a special appetizer.

Seated for the Main Course

An out of sight Gourmet Burger with Onions & Mushrooms, incredible Cole Slaw, and Homemade Potato Chips . Thanks, Sue Mike, Brian, TJ, Bill, Beth, Craig and Deborah.

The Main Event

Believe it, this was delicious. Check our recipes and give it a try. Unfortunately you won't be able to have it with our guest, Bill Martina's fine wine.

Celebrate Good Times, C'mon...

The camradarie, food, conversation and wine bring us close to another conclusion.

Desert, the Closer!

Ruth's Sambuca Bavarian with Blackberry Coulis was the closer... Much better than Mariano Rivera of the Yankees. Go Red Sox!!!

Finis....

TJ embraces Sue, speaking for all of us. A great party, Thanks Guys.
